15 August 2024The 2nd Southeast Asia Economic Research and Development Workshop
On 15-16 August 2024, CDRI, in partnership with the Young Scholars Initiative (YSI) and Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, Siem Reap Campus (PUCSR), successfully organised the 2nd Southeast Asia Economic Research and Development Workshop.
This international workshop explored the history of economic thought and research, offering valuable insights into how economic theories and policies in ASEAN have been shaped by cultural, social, and political contexts.
By examining past economic ideas and experiences, young economists and academics gained a deeper understanding of the region’s development path, which helps inform contemporary economic policymaking and fosters inclusive, sustainable growth.
The workshop featured various sessions with senior economists and was attended by approximately 50 young scholars and academics from 12 different countries.
Moving forward, our research team aims to publish an edited book, compiling potential research papers from the workshop, and create a local hub where young scholars can meet, share ideas, and collaborate on research.
